Assist. Prof. Gergana Georgieva, PhD, from the Faculty of Physics, Department of Meteorology and Geophysics of the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” initiated in 2014 the installation of the first Bulgarian Antarctic seismic station.
Since 2015 she has lead scientific projects for seismicity and glacier movement in Antarctica and is member of five National Antarctic expeditions. She maintains the seismic station and makes the seismic and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) measurements on the glacier surface.
