03 May 2018, Gaziantep, Turkey - Syrian women who participated in FAO's vocational training program were introduced to the owners of a medical company. Their two-month on-the-job training in food packaging gave them the qualifications they needed to work in medical packaging. Now they have full-time jobs and a steady income. Since 2017 FAO has been providing theoretical, practical and on-the-job training to Syrian refugees and unemployed Turkish citizens. Trainees learn about the different stages of the supply chain, from planting, irrigating and harvesting, to processing, packaging and ensuring hygienic practices.
