Aletta Jacobs
Aletta Jacobs (1854 - 1929) was the first female student in the Netherlands to graduate from a university and the first female doctor. The photo was taken on 8 March 1879, the day she gained her doctorate in medicine in Amsterdam. She was also an advocate of women's rights and an icon of women's suffrage, working with feminists all over Europe. Aletta's life has been of great significance for Dutch women.
