Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva
Sarina Wiegman
Football coach Sarina Wiegman profoundly changed women’s football.
“Whatever you want to achieve, go for it. There are no boundaries.”
When Sarina started playing football at six years old, she had to pretend to be a boy as it was against the rules for girls to play competitively at the time in the Netherlands.
She started as mid-fielder and is now widely recognised as one of the best international coaches in women's football.
With her triumphs winning EURO 2017 as coach of the National Dutch women’s football team, and EURO 2022 with the English National team, she became a role model for many young women and girls that would like to become football coaches.
Sarina Wiegman is Ambassador for Plan International and for the Cruyff Foundation.
