Women of Iceland
Women‘s strike 24 October 1975.
Across Iceland, women walked out of their jobs – at sea, in factories, in offices, and at home. Their goal was to demostrate how essential women’s labor was to society. It became a defining moment in the nation’s ongoing fight for gender equality. The photo is taken in central Reykjavík where 11% of Iceland‘s population at the time came together.
