Fatima Sator

 

Fatima Sator is a Research Associate at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). Together with Elise Dietrichson, they researched the origins of Gender Equality in the UN Charter. Through their research, they led an advocacy project to promote and give greater visibility to the Latin American women who fought for the inclusion of gender equality in the UN Charter.  Their advocacy work has been featured in the Washington Post, the New York Times and the Associated Press, among others. Following the success of the project, a documentary about their journey and the story of Bertha Lutz has been produced by HBO. A former journalist, Fatima is currently deployed as a Communication Specialist at UNOCHA in Geneva. She holds a Master’s in International Studies and Diplomacy from SOAS and a Master’s in Journalism from the University of Neuchâtel in Switzerland. Originally from Algeria, she speaks French, English, Arabic and Spanish and is regularly invited to panels and conferences as a speaker.
