Tegla Loroupe
A member of the Pokot tribe in northern Kenya, Tegla Loroupe is the first African woman to win the New York marathon and one of the greatest long-distance runners in history. An Olympian and a member of the IOC Athletes’ Entourage Commission, Loroupe was Chef de Mission of the first-ever IOC Refugee Olympic Team at Rio 2016, and then again at Tokyo 2020, acting as a mentor to the refugee athletes competing.
