Krystyna Chojnowska-Liskiewicz is the first woman to sail around the world solo. Sailor, traveller, and naval architect. Often referred to as ‘the first lady of the oceans’. She departed the port of Las Palmas in March 1976. Two years later, in March 1978, she completed her circumnavigation near Cape Verde, having sailed 28,696 nautical miles alone. Her achievement was listed in the Guinness Book of Records.
