Marie-Hélène Lefaucheux, the only woman member of the French delegation at the inaugural session of the United Nations General Assembly in 1946. Founder and first Chair of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in 1948. That same year, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted. Lefaucheux succeeded in introducing a reference to non-discrimination on the basis of sex into Article 2.
