In 2023, Margherita Cassano was unanimously appointed First President of the Supreme Court of Cassation - the highest court of the Italian judiciary - by the High Council of the Judiciary, chaired by the President of the Republic. In the history of the Italian Republic, she was the first woman to hold this position. She has been a member of the network of Presidents of the Supreme Courts of Europe.
