Rohini S. Swaminathan specializes in applications of geospatial information technology for disaster risk reduction. A Geomatics Engineer working with the United Nations Institute of Training and Research (UNITAR)’s Operational Satellite Applications Programme (UNOSAT), she trains local governmental authorities and decision makers in remote sensing and geographic information systems to reduce disaster related risks.
Previously, Swaminathan has worked with DEVELOP, part of NASA’s Applied Sciences Program focusing on applications of satellite remote sensing for environmental management, especially in developing countries.
